Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has dismissed speculation linking Gabriel Jesus with a return to Brazil during the January transfer window, insisting the striker’s struggles this season don’t change his standing at the club.

Jesus has managed just one goal so far this campaign, netting in the Carabao Cup against Preston, with his last Premier League goal coming back in January. Softfootball notes that Arteta addressed the growing transfer talk directly during his latest press conference.

He said:

Reports of Gabriel Jesus leaving and going to Brazil in January are nonsense.

Arteta went on to defend the striker’s attitude despite his lack of end product, insisting patience remains key. He added:

Like all strikers they go through phases and moments. His attitude has been really good. It always is. We’re going to support him as much as possible.

The Arsenal boss made clear Jesus remains very much part of his plans moving forward, regardless of his current scoring drought.
