Arsenal told £67m Rodrygo could be sold if form doesn’t improve

Arsenal learns Rodrygo's asking price from Real Madrid

Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, with reports in Spain suggesting the 24-year-old could be sold this summer if he fails to regain top form.

Rodrygo is high on Arsenal’s transfer shortlist, alongside Anthony Gordon, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke, as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his attack with a versatile winger and a new striker. Last season, the Brazilian recorded a respectable 14 goals and 10 assists for Madrid across all competitions, but his inconsistent performances under Carlo Ancelotti have drawn criticism.

Despite new boss Xabi Alonso’s recent vote of confidence—calling Rodrygo a “special player” who will play an “important part” in the Club World Cup—Spanish journalist Antonio Romero of Cadena SER claims Real Madrid could sanction a sale if his displays don’t improve.

“It’s an open secret that if Rodrygo doesn’t wake up and an offer comes in, he’s more out than in,” Romero revealed.

“Nobody wants to get rid of a Rodrygo like the one we saw two or three years ago. But if it’s last season’s Rodrygo—melancholic and ineffective in front of goal—he’s gone if a bid arrives.”

Madrid are reportedly seeking a fee of around €80 million (£67.5 million) should they decide to cash in. This valuation puts Rodrygo within Arsenal’s financial reach, especially as the club considers high-profile attacking reinforcements.

Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhães has also expressed enthusiasm for the potential move. Speaking on the Podpah podcast, Gabriel admitted he would welcome his Brazil teammate at the Emirates.

“Rodrygo is a phenomenon for me. If it depended on me, I’ve already told people—of course, I’d want him. His name is mentioned a lot.”

With Real Madrid’s stance softening and Arsenal actively pursuing wide options, a summer move for Rodrygo could materialize—provided the player doesn’t turn his form around under Alonso.
