As Arsenal continue their search for a new wide player, attention has turned to Chelsea’s Noni Madueke amid uncertainty surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge. With their pursuit of Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams close to ending in disappointment, the Gunners are now weighing up alternative targets for the summer window.

Madueke, a 23-year-old attacker who has experience on both flanks, featured heavily for Chelsea last season with 41 appearances across competitions, netting 11 goals and supplying five assists. Despite this involvement, Arsenal believe the winger may not be considered indispensable at Chelsea and could be lured away if the price is right.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, speaking at the Club World Cup, insisted that Madueke remains part of the club’s plans. Yet the Premier League runners-up are reportedly keeping a close eye on developments, sensing an opportunity should Chelsea’s stance change.

Andrea Berta, Arsenal’s sporting director, had made Nico Williams the top target for the left flank. But with the Euro 2024 star set for a switch to Barcelona, Arsenal are actively exploring backup plans, including AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon — both of whom play predominantly on the left, which aligns more directly with Arsenal’s positional needs.

While Madueke primarily operates on the right wing — where Arsenal already have Bukayo Saka — his versatility is appealing. Still, it remains unclear if the Gunners will formally approach Chelsea, though history shows Arsenal aren’t hesitant to do business with their London rivals.

Arsenal are also closing in on a £5 million deal to bring goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, as the Gunners look to strengthen their squad depth ahead of another title challenge.

Madueke has scored 20 goals and provided nine assists in 88 matches for Chelsea overall and recently featured in their 2-0 Club World Cup win over Los Angeles FC, playing 64 minutes. Whether he will still be at Stamford Bridge come September remains to be seen — especially with Arsenal watching closely.
