Arsenal are reportedly nearing an agreement to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for around £5 million. The proposed transfer would give Arsenal another experienced goalkeeper and could provide additional competition for the position.
Arrizabalaga has spent several seasons in the Premier League and has also gained experience at international level, making him familiar with the demands of top-flight football.
Softfootball understands that Arsenal are attracted by the relatively modest fee being discussed for a player with significant experience.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are continuing to reshape their goalkeeping department following changes within the squad. Arrizabalaga’s future has been the subject of speculation for some time, and a move to another Premier League club could give him an opportunity to establish greater consistency.
Arsenal will assess how he fits into their plans before completing any agreement. If the transfer is finalised, the Spanish goalkeeper would bring competition, experience and familiarity with English football to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The reported fee could also make the move an attractive option for Arsenal as they look to strengthen without making a major financial commitment.
