Arne Slot Welcomes Jurgen Klopp Back to Anfield Anytime

Arne Slot has extended an open invitation to Jurgen Klopp, encouraging the former Liverpool manager to return to Anfield or even drop by the training ground if he wishes.

Klopp stepped down at the end of last season after a hugely successful tenure that began in October 2015.

During his time on Merseyside, he delivered a Premier League title, Champions League, FA Cup, and two League Cups, cementing his legacy as a beloved figure among fans.

The 57-year-old chose to take a break from management, leaving Slot with the daunting task of succeeding him.

Despite the pressure, Slot has excelled in his debut season. Liverpool currently tops the Premier League and has comfortably advanced to the Champions League’s last 16.

The Dutchman remains unfazed by Klopp’s potential return, seeing no threat in the presence of his popular predecessor.

“I invited him to the City and Real Madrid home games, but he was somewhere else in the world,” Slot revealed. “He can come here any time he wants—to the games or even the training ground. He is more than welcome.”

Klopp’s connection to Liverpool remains strong. In his emotional farewell last May, after a 2-0 victory over Wolves, he praised Slot and even led the crowd in a chant celebrating the new manager.

Reflecting on his departure, Klopp acknowledged the bittersweet nature of the transition. “I saw a lot of people crying, and it will happen to me tonight because I will miss people, that is clear,” he said.

“But change is good. With the right attitude, everything will be fine because the foundation is there—this team and the new manager.”

In an interview with ESPN Netherlands last August, Klopp expressed his admiration for Slot. “Arne is a really good coach,” he said. “I was happy when I heard Liverpool was going for him. I wasn’t involved in the decision—I’m not the type to pull strings in the background. The club is too big, too good for that. My only concern was whether they’d find a good coach, and they did with Arne Slot—a top, top solution.”

As Liverpool’s new era under Slot gains momentum, the door remains open for Klopp to return and witness the legacy he helped build.
