Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has provided an encouraging update on Victor Boniface’s recovery from injury, suggesting the striker could return to action sooner than expected.
Boniface picked up a thigh problem while on international duty last month and hasn’t featured for the Bundesliga champions since, having initially been expected to miss the remainder of the year.
Softfootball reports that Alonso addressed the forward’s progress during Friday’s press conference. He said:

Boniface has been a key attacking presence for Leverkusen this season whenever available, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 11 appearances across all competitions. His physical presence, movement, and finishing have made him a vital part of Alonso’s attacking setup.
A return in the coming weeks would provide a significant lift for Leverkusen as they continue to compete on multiple fronts. The Nigerian striker’s availability could strengthen the club’s push for domestic and European success during a demanding period of the campaign.
