Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Victor Boniface could be on his way out of the Bundesliga champions amid ongoing talks with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
The Nigeria international has been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi club, with reports suggesting that he is open to joining the team.
Softfootball understands that Boniface was left out of Leverkusen’s preparations for the Champions League fixture as discussions over his potential transfer continue.
According to reports, negotiations between Leverkusen and Al Nassr are already underway as the Saudi giants look to secure the services of the powerful forward.
Ahead of Leverkusen’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Sparta Prague, Alonso said:
There is this situation and I understand that. There are discussions with the club. We have to wait. We’re preparing for the game without Boni, of course.
The 23-year-old recently extended his contract with the German champions until 2029, but Leverkusen are reportedly demanding around €50 million for the striker.
If the deal is completed, Boniface would become the latest high-profile Nigerian player to make the move to the Saudi Pro League.
