Portugal star Ruben Neves extends Al Hilal contract until June 2029

Portugal international Ruben Neves has extended his contract with Saudi Arabia defending champions, Al Hilal contract until June 2029, Softfootball understands.

The former Wolves midfielder, who played a vital role in helping Portugal qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is a key part of the Al Hilal’s side that earned respect from the rest of the world after their impressive participation at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Al Hilal made the announcement via their official X handle, as the Portuguese decided to stay at the club despite rumours of a likely January exit with Manchester United mentioned as a possible destination. The statement read:

Interestingly, Ruben Neves will be playing with a new superstar teammate as Al Hilal just signed Karim Benzema. The former Real Madrid and Ballon DO’r winner caused a panic around the league and even his former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo went on striker that Al Hilal is allowed to have the upper hand in the competition.

Ruben Neves, 28, has been a pivotal player for Al-Hilal since joining in July 2023 for a reported £47m. After helping the club win the league last season, he has already scored eight goals and recorded five assists in the Saudi Pro League this term.

Al Hilal are currently top of the Saudi Arabia pro league table with 47 points, just one above Ronaldo’s Al Nassr after 19 matches played so far this season.
