Moussa Diaby already gave his green light to joining Inter from Al Ittihad on loan with €35m buy option clause. Deal depends now on Al Ittihad decision on the formula of the deal.

The French winger, who moved to Saudi Arabia from Aston Villa last summer, seems keen on getting back to Europe after just one season away.

He joined Al Ittihad in July 2024 for around €60 million, and while he’s had some good moments in Saudi, it feels like his career momentum is better served back in the European leagues. Inter’s interest has opened that door, and he’s reportedly fully on board.

Al Ittihad still have to agree on the deal’s structure, a loan with an option to buy rather than a straight permanent transfer. With the risk of also losing one of their key midfielders, N’Golo Kanté, who is already in talks to join Fenerbahçe, the club are a bit cautious about letting go of such a big signing so soon.

Talks are continuing behind the scenes, and while both sides are hopeful, nothing has been finalised yet.

Inter, who recently lost 3-1 to Arsenal in the Champions League, interest is also partly because of squad needs. Denzel Dumfries is injured, and there’s growing attention on Luis Henrique from other clubs. Diaby’s flexibility makes him a perfect fit, able to play as a right wing-back in Inter’s 3-5-2 or just out wide if needed.

He’s not new to Serie A either. Back in 2018, Diaby had a loan stint at Crotone from PSG, which helped him get a taste of Italian football early in his career.

For Diaby, this move isn’t just a loan, it’s a chance to restart, get minutes, and really show what he can do on the European stage.
