Softfootball understands that Everton’s season has taken a frustrating turn after Jack Grealish was confirmed to be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with the midfielder expected to miss close to three months through injury, as reported by Fabrizio Romano via his official X account.
He posted:
Understand Jack Grealish will be out for 3 months with stress fracture in his foot. 12 weeks out for Everton star as tests made today confirm long break and major blow for #EFC.
Grealish picked up this injury in Everton’s 1–0 Premier League victory against Aston Villa following their 4–2 defeat to Brentford. Grealish played the full match against Aston Villa and looked fine throughout.

It was only after the game that some discomfort became noticeable, enough to raise alarms inside the camp. Further medical checks later confirmed the fracture, adding more to Everton’s frustration.
Everton have confirmed that Grealish is currently under the care of their medical staff and will also consult a specialist in the coming days to settle on a clear treatment plan. For now, his rehabilitation will be carefully managed.

Since arriving on loan from Manchester City, Grealish has quietly become one of Everton’s most reliable attacking outlets. He has offered more than just numbers, control, confidence, and that calm presence in tight moments. David Moyes has leaned heavily on him, and losing such a player at this stage feels like poor timing, to say the least.
Although Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye are expected back soon after winning the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, which should strengthen the squad overall. Still, Grealish’s influence in the final third is a different kind of problem to solve.

The injury may also dent Grealish’s international hopes. He hasn’t featured for England since 2024 and was quietly pushing for a return under new manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Missing months of football now makes that road much harder, maybe even unlikely. For Grealish, it’s a waiting game again, one he probably didn’t see coming.
