Softfootball understands that Luis Guilherme’s short spell at West Ham United has come to an end, with Sporting CP completing a permanent move for the Brazilian winger.
The transfer was confirmed by sport expert Fabrizio Romano via his official X account, announcing that all parties have agreed, and the paperwork is now being processed.

He said:
Luis Guilherme to Sporting from West Ham, here we go! Deal in place as documents are being checked. Permanent transfer for total package up to potential €17m, add-ons included. West Ham will also have sell-on clause.
Sporting will pay a total package worth up to €17 million, including performance-related add-ons. West Ham have also secured a sell-on clause, meaning they will benefit financially if Guilherme is sold on in the future. For the London club, it’s some protection on an investment that never quite worked out.
Guilherme arrived at West Ham from Palmeiras in the summer of 2024 in a deal reported to be worth around £25 million. At the time, he was seen as a long-term project with real upside. But things didn’t unfold as planned.

Under Nuno Espírito Santo, the 19-year-old found opportunities hard to come by, managing just five Premier League appearances this season, with only one of them a start. Also coming off the bench in West Ham’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, in total, he played just 122 minutes before the decision was made to move him on.
Interest in Guilherme picked up during the January window, with both Sporting CP and FC Porto monitoring the situation.
Early talks centred on a loan with an obligation to buy, though West Ham pushed back. Financial pressures meant the club preferred a straight permanent deal, and Sporting eventually pulled ahead in negotiations.

West Ham, who recently drew 2-2 against Brighton, are expected to recoup around £14.8 million from the sale, a clear loss compared to the original fee paid. Still, the sell-on clause offers some hope of future returns if Guilherme develops as Sporting believes he will.
The transfer also highlights West Ham’s wider financial balancing act. Losses elsewhere, funds raised from Guilherme’s exit are likely to be reinvested quickly, with names like Adama Traoré already being mentioned around the club.
