Crystal Palace and Bournemouth Target Brennan Johnson in the January Window

Softfootball understands that Crystal Palace and Bournemouth have both been in touch with Tottenham Hotspur to ask about the situation around Brennan Johnson. It’s not just background noise anymore. The interest is real, as reported by Fabrizio Romano via his official X account.

Crystal Palace and Bournemouth both approached Spurs to ask for Brennan Johnson deal conditions. Johnson could leave Tottenham in the January transfer window.

Johnson, who last featured for Tottenham for just 5 minutes in the club’s 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace, has not quite found his place under new Spurs boss Thomas Frank.

After his amazing last season performance, including scoring the Europa League final winning goal against Manchester United, things have slowed down. This season, he’s started just six Premier League games.

Crystal Palace are reportedly leading the chase. The club are ready to go in at around £35 million and have already spoken to Spurs about how a deal could look. Johnson is seen as someone who could lift Palace’s attack, especially with his pace and ability to play across the front line. There’s a belief he’d fit in well under Oliver Glasner.

What makes it slightly strange is that Glasner is expected to leave at the end of the season, having chosen not to extend his deal beyond June 2026. Still, Palace are not standing still. They’re ninth in the league right now, just three points off the top four, and there is a sense they want to push while they can.

Bournemouth are watching closely, too. Their interest is tied to Antoine Semenyo, whose £65 million release clause becomes active on January 1. With Manchester City now leading that race to sign him, Bournemouth are preparing for life without him.

Johnson is one of the names on their list, although their move is said to be more cautious than Palace’s.

Tottenham, for their part, aren’t desperate to sell. The club values Johnson at around £50 million, though there’s an understanding they might accept slightly less, especially if it helps fund new signings. Spurs are already looking at attacking options elsewhere.

For Johnson, the timing matters. With the 2026 World Cup coming up, sitting on the bench isn’t ideal. He’s under contract until 2028, earns about £125,000 a week, and has 27 goals and 18 assists in 106 appearances for Spurs. Still, he hasn’t been involved in a goal since November. That quiet spell might just be what pushes a move through.
