Softfootball has gathered that Northstar Network has officially acquired Soccernet.ng, in a development announced on Thursday, December 26, 2024. The acquisition was confirmed by Northstar Network via its official website, describing the move as a significant step into the Nigerian sports media space and a clear statement of its broader ambitions within the African media landscape.

Northstar Network noted that the acquisition aligns with its goal of expanding its footprint in sports and entertainment media across Africa. The company is known as an affiliate marketing agency with strong specialization in sports and entertainment-driven platforms.
Soccernet.ng also confirmed the acquisition on its official social media handles, stating that Northstar Network now owns the website. The platform welcomed the transition, describing it as a new chapter for the brand.
Soccernet was founded in 2014 by Biyi Akangbe and has since grown into one of Nigeria’s recognized football-focused digital platforms. Despite the change in ownership, continuity appears to be a priority. Soccernet’s Editorial Lead, Lolade Adewuyi, will remain involved with the project as a columnist following the transition, as confirmed on December 26, 2024.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Soccernet.ng’s reach and resources while positioning Northstar Network as a rising player in Africa’s evolving digital sports media ecosystem.
