The 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in their Premier League match at Vitality stadium shows how confident and competitive the club is. He explained that things were very different when he first arrived but the core values of the club were still the same.

His words were shared on the club’s official X handle, he said;

It was completely different when I first came. It’s an amazing club and I’ve loved it ever since I arrived. The players who have come in have been incredible. The fundamentals of the club are still there from back then, it’s a family club, very well run, with great players who will continue to improve and push us on. I don’t feel old at all, not yet anyway! I’ve still got the same desire I had back then to train and play football. Recovery is a bit more important now, but when I’m playing I still feel fresh. I’m very lucky to be playing football and training at this level. It’s been a strange season for me. When the team’s doing well, everyone benefits from it so it’s been great to see the lads doing so well in games. In July, there was an incident in a game that put me out for about eight weeks, and then I hurt my shoulder straight away when I came back. In the previous two seasons I’d played a lot of games, so it was frustrating. About 20 minutes into a game in pre-season, I played a simple last-minute pass, fell awkwardly and I knew straight away what I’d done. I’ve had that injury before so I recognised the feeling. It wasn’t anything worse than we first thought. It was a bad injury, but it could have been a lot worse. I told the physios straight away! I know the difference in how these injuries feel and I knew what the road back was going to look like.

From his words, it has been a challenging season for him because of the injuries he suffered that kept him out of action for a long time. The setbacks were frustrating but he remained positive.

His patience paid off when he returned to the starting lineup in Bournemouth’s dramatic Premier League match which ended in a 2-2 draw with West Ham.

Now, Cook is focused on building momentum and helping the team as they prepare for a tough trip to Sunderland.
