PSG Confirm Ousmane Dembélé Sidelined with Left Calf Injury

3 Min Read

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Ousmane Dembélé has picked up a left calf injury, and he’s now set to spend a few weeks on the sidelines. Softfootball reports that the news comes just a day after the Ballon d’Or winner was forced off during PSG’s 2–1 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

It’s another frustrating twist for Dembélé, who only just got back from a hamstring issue that had kept him out earlier this season, and this setback is not the perfect way the Ballon d’Or winner will want to celebrate his inclusion in the FIFPRO Men’s World 11.

Manager Luis Enrique sounded pretty hopeful before the game, insisting the winger had “fully recovered” and was ready to go again. But midway through the first half, the 28-year-old started to look uncomfortable. Tests after the match confirmed what fans feared: it’s a fresh muscular problem, though unrelated to the previous one. Fabrizio Romano shared the information in a tweet via his official X account.

He tweeted:

PSG confirm Ousmane Dembélé has suffered a left calf injury, which will keep him sidelined for several weeks. The Ballon d’Or is also going to be out for the upcoming international break.

In an official statement released Wednesday, November 5, PSG said Dembélé will stay under medical supervision for the next few weeks. The update also mentioned more worries for the club—Achraf Hakimi is out with a serious left ankle sprain, while Nuno Mendes is nursing a sprained left knee. Not exactly the news Luis Enrique wanted heading into a packed schedule.

The timing couldn’t be worse either. Dembélé will now miss France’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers during the international break, the second time in a row he’ll be unavailable after missing October’s games because of a right hamstring tear from September.

His absence leaves a gap both for PSG and for Didier Deschamps’ national team setup. Dembélé’s pace and flair have been key to PSG’s attack this season, and when he’s fit, he just makes things happen. Now, though, they’ll have to cope without him — again — while he fights to come back stronger, as he’s done so many times before.
