Pure Mentality – Thomas Frank Praises Tottenham’ Fighting Spirit

Tottenham showed grit and character to come from two goals down and snatch a 2-2 draw away at Brighton, extending their unbeaten away run to three games under Thomas Frank’s new era. The spurs looked dead and buried at the Amex, but they dug deep to earn a point on the road , just days after a hard-fought UEFA Champions League win against Villarreal on Wednesday night,Softfootball reports.

The performance was another sign of growth from the players under Frank, who has been trying to instill belief and resilience in his players since taking charge. The way his side refused to backdown, even after conceding twice against a Brighton side who are very good at home, would really please him just as much as the result itself.

It was a game that demanded not just footballing ability but also strong mentality, with Spurs showing they could match intensity and composure on a tough away ground, speaking with spurs tv via the team’s official website after the game, the Tottenham boss had alot of praises for his team who fought back to earn a point away at the amex stadium he said;

The headline is mentality. I said to the players ‘a game like this is pure mentality’. Of course we need all the tactical, structure, details, all that but to really achieve something, you need to be so strong here (points to his head) when you go away on the back of a Champions League game, that demands everything from you. Then we really decided to test ourselves by going down 2-0…

But the way we started the game… Wow! Coming away from home, against Brighton, a good team, and we just completely dominated them and then out of nowhere, ‘boom’, they scored a goal… We keep going and then out of nowhere they score the second one. But the way we kept going and more or less controlled the game from start to end, getting the two goals, that I think is very impressive. So the mentality and physicality of the team look strong, intense. This is us.

Frank’s words reflected the mood of a squad that is not only building confidence but also proving they can respond to setbacks. His focus on mentality shows he believes his players are developing the right mix of strength and belief to compete on all fronts.
