Spurs Fight Back From Two Down to Earn Dramatic 2-2 Draw at Brighton

Tottenham Hotspur staged a spirited comeback at the Amex Stadium, fighting from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion and avoid a third successive away defeat to the Seagulls, Softfootball reports.

The hosts struck first against the run of play as Yankuba Minteh latched onto Georginio Rutter’s precise pass, showing composure to round Guglielmo Vicario and slot home. The Amex erupted again when Yasin Ayari punished a midfield error from Lucas Bergvall, bending in a long-range effort that left the Spurs goalkeeper flat-footed. Despite Tottenham’s dominance in possession, they were punished for lapses at both ends and looked set for a long night.

Thomas Frank’s men, however, kept pushing, and their persistence paid off on the stroke of half-time. Mohammed Kudus’ effort was blocked, but Richarlison reacted quickly in the box, slotting home to halve the deficit to give Spurs some hope before the break.

After the restart, Tottenham’s pressure mounted. New signing Xavi Simons came off the bench and immediately added flair to Spurs’ attack, forcing Bart Verbruggen into a save and going close with another attempt. Brighton nearly killed the game off through Ayari again, but his strike fizzed narrowly wide, offering the visitors a lifeline.

That lifeline was seized with less than 10 minutes to play. Simons slipped in Kudus, whose teasing cross from the right was deflected into his own net by Jan Paul van Hecke, sending the away fans into raptures. Despite a late surge, Spurs couldn’t find a winner, while Brighton held firm to take a point.
