Softfootball can report that the Spanish national team players, including Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, have landed in Turkey as preparations continue for their second match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. The Spanish national team shared the information via its official website this evening; they immediately touched down at Konya Airport.
Yamal, who created an assist for Mikel Merino’s goal in Thursday night’s 3-0 opening victory over Bulgaria, was part of Luis de la Fuente’s squad that made the journey from Sofia to Central Anatolia for their second World Cup qualifying game.

Having touched down in Turkey, the team will hold their final session on the pitch at the Konya Büyükşehir Belediye Stadium on Saturday evening, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Spanish time (7:00 p.m. local). Before that, De la Fuente and Manchester City midfielder Rodrigo Hernández are scheduled to address the press at 5:15 p.m.
It has been reported that English referee Michael Oliver has been assigned to control the game between Turkey and Spain. Both Turkey and Spain recorded maximum points in their first game, which makes Sunday’s task a big test for the Euro winners.
Oliver will have his compatriots, Stuart Burt and James Mainwaring, as linemen. The fourth official will also be Englishman Chris Kavanagh. The VAR will be Australian Jarred Gillett and Englishman Darren England (VAR assistant).
