Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has offered chelsea fans positive news on the injury front ahead of the teams’ London derby against West Ham United on Sunday.

The Italian confirmed that both Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana are available for selection, handing the blues a much-needed defensive reinforcements.

Softfootball understands this will come as a big boost for the Blues, who are looking to bounce back after their opening-day draw against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

Despite holing possession and creating several chances, the blues weren’t as good defensively, forcing them to settle for a goalless draw, leaving Maresca eager to secure his first Premier League win of the new season.

Speaking to the press during the pre match conference via the club’s official website, Maresca confirmed the availability of players. He said:

“Tosin is available for tomorrow. I’m a little bit surprised because last week when he wasn’t available, the day before it was everywhere [in the media] that he wasn’t available!

“Now I don’t know why you don’t know he is available! But yes, he is available.

“Romeo is still out [and won’t play in this game]. Benoit is still out. Wes is back, as I said, and that’s all.”

The manager was also quick to address the absence of attacking options, confirming that both Nicolas Jackson, who missed the Palace match through suspension, and Christopher Nkunku will not travel to East London.

Softfootball understands that beyond this weekend’s fixture, both Jackson and Nkunku are expected to leave the club before the close of the transfer window, with Chelsea prepared to sanction their departures as part of the ongoing squad rebuild under Maresca.
