Bayern Munich have identified Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku as one of its priority targets in the ongoing transfer window, with the Frenchman viewed as a viable replacement for recently departed Kingsley Coman.
Softfootball has gathered Bayern consider Nkunku an “ideal fit” for Vincent Kompany’s tactical plans, given his ability to operate as a striker, second forward, or attacking midfielder.
However, any move will hinge on the financial package required, with costs currently under assessment between both clubs’ camps.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, he shared that Bayern Munich are presently studying the possibility of an Nkunku deal at the Allianz Arena, but are mainly focusing on the cost. Meanwhile, the versatility of the embattled Chelsea player is an interesting factor for the German side.
Here is what Fabrizio posted on his X handle:
“Understand Christopher Nkunku is one of the main names on FC Bayern shortlist.
“He’s considered ideal player to cover several positions but deal depend on costs now.
“Several clubs asked for Nkunku this summer, open situation.”
Nkunku, 27, joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 but endured an injury-hit debut season at Stamford Bridge, limiting his impact in the Premier League. And having been informed by Enzo Maresca of a potential exit at the end of last season, Nkunku has been on the radar to move from the Blues for more playing time.

The 27-year-old scarcely had playing time last season under Enzo Maresca, averaging 35 minutes per game in all 27 matches featured for the Blues in the EPL.
However, Bayern’s interest seems to be a restart for Nkunku, even though the German giants are also making an effort to re-equip their forward department after the departure of Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane and lately, Kingsley Coman, who’s set to join Ronaldo’s Al Nassr for a whopping 30 million.
The Bundesliga side is expected to hold internal discussions before deciding whether to advance talks with Chelsea, who are yet to indicate their stance on a potential sale.
For now, the situation remains open, with Bayern keeping Nkunku among their leading candidates while monitoring alternative targets in the attacking department.
