Werder Bremen desperate to re-sign former AC Milan star Silva this summer

Bundesliga outfit, Werder Bremen are desperately re-sign Portugal international André Silva this summer. Softfootball understands that it may be difficult to pull off because of the high salary the RB Leipzig forward earns.

Silva also wants to reunite with Werder Bremen and the player is willing to take a pay cut to facilitate the move. Currently, Silva’s salary at RB Leipzig is €7m per season and the potential transfer fee is a significant obstacle.

According to football transfer expert, Florian Plettenberg via his official X handle suggested that Werder Bremen do not intend to give up despite not having the financial muscle for the deal.

He said:

“Werder Bremen are still pushing to sign 29 y/o striker André Silva again from RB Leipzig. Talks are ongoing.

“Silva is open to returning to Bremen. However, the deal is difficult because of his high salary. Bremen and Leipzig are trying to find a solution.”

Interestingly, Leipzig is reportedly willing to let Silva go, especially since he was excluded from the first pre-season match. And Werder Bremen are in need of attacking reinforcements especially after the exit of Dawid Kownacki on loan.

Werder Bremen New coach, Horst Steffen is keen on adding attacking players to the squad and they’ve made the signing of Silva top priority.

Meanwhile, RB Leipzig sold one of their biggest talents to Manchester United, Benjamin Šeško this summer for £74million and after he was unveiled at Old Trafford on Saturday.
