Darwin Nunez has expressed his excitement after completing his switch from Liverpool to Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal on a three years deal, Softfootball reports.
Al-Hilal paid €53m plus add-ons for the Uruguay international. The former Reds star was a priority target for Coach Simone Inzaghi after his side’s lack of attacking threat during the FIFA Club World Cup.

Nunez has been open all along for the possible switch to Saudi Arabia after a move to Serie A champions, Napoli collapsed and it was no surprise as Al-Hilal announced the deal on their official X handle.
The statement read:
“Al-Hilal Signs Uruguayan Player Darwin Nunez 📃”
On the club official website the length of the contract was disclosed.
Nunez was delighted with the switch that he left a message for the fans that was shared on the club’s official X account.
He said:
‘I am so happy to be here. From Nunez to the blues.’

The 26-year-old was surplus to requirement at Liverpool following the arrival of Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt and potential pursuit of Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
However, Nunez an integral media of the Reds squad that won the Premier League last season. He also won the Liverpool EFL Cup in 2024 and FA Community Shield.
Nunez’s time at Benfica was remarkable as he won the best player of the Portuguese League for the 2021/22 season after finishing as top scorer with 26 goals and four assists.
Back in Uruguay, he won the league title with Peñarol twice in 2017 and 2018 before moving to Spanish club Almería.
Internationally, Nunez has 35 caps for the Uruguayan national team, scoring 13 goals and recording three assists. He also represented his country at the U-20 national teams. Nunez made a total of 143 appearances for Liverpool and scored 40 goals for the club.
Nunez has just joined the Al-Hilal squad in their preseason training camp in Germany.
