Jakub Kiwior Set for Arsenal Exit as Serie A Return Beckons

Jakub Kiwior may be heading for the Arsenal exit door this summer, with the Polish defender reportedly eager to secure more regular game time.

After a challenging spell in North London, the 25-year-old is open to returning to Serie A, a league where he previously enjoyed a stable run before joining the Gunners.

Sports journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed via his official X handle that the defender can still make the move away from the Emirates this summer despite Arteta’s interest in keeping him and Arsenal even rejected a bid for him in July.

He tweeted:

“Understand Jakub Kiwior’s future remains open with several clubs keen on signing the centre back. Arteta would prefer to keep Kiwior, Arsenal already rejected a proposal from Portugal in July. Up to the player with desire to play more as possible factor.”

Despite joining Arsenal in January 2023 with high expectations, Kiwior has struggled to cement a permanent spot in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI. The consistent performances of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have largely limited his chances in central defence. Even as Arteta showed flexibility by deploying him at left-back last season, the player still found himself on the fringes.

His recent display against Real Madrid, stepping in after Gabriel’s season-ending injury, was a reminder of his quality. However, with Gabriel expected to return before the new campaign and new arrival Cristhian Mosquera in the mix, Kiwior’s path to regular minutes looks increasingly blocked.

Softfootball understands that Italian clubs like Bayer Leverkusen and Napoli are circling and looking to make a deal happen. Napoli, under Antonio Conte, could offer Kiwior the chance to reset his career, while Juventus are also reportedly monitoring his situation.

Although Arteta values Kiwior, the reality of limited playing time may drive the player to push for a move. A return to Italy appears to be the most appealing option for the defender as he looks to reclaim a starring role elsewhere.
