Borussia Dortmund are in advanced negotiations to sign Argentine defender, Juan Gimenez from Rosario Central who has reportedly been on Arsenal radar all through the summer. The 19-year-old has already made 22 professional appearances for his home club, showcasing performances that have caught the attention of not only the Prussians but also other European clubs.
Juan Gimenez is a is six feet and two inches tall defender who plays for Rosario Central in Argentina. He is a versatile center-back who can play on both sides of a back-four and even a back-three, as well as a defensive midfielder on certain occasions.

According to Florian Plettenberg via his X account, Juan Giménez remains on Borussia Dortmund’s shortlist for the current transfer window, with advanced discussions already held with the player’s representatives. Arsenal are also monitoring the situation closely.

In 2025, Gimenez had only four matches for Rosario, as he was called up for Argentina’s U20s team for the South American Championship between January and February, where Giménez was a starter.
He is a good defender on and off the ball, being patient with possession and finding the right passing angles, and also defending spaces with speed and physicality. As a starter of a brilliant U20 Argentina team, Giménez has the potential to be a future star in the making with the characteristics of a true leader.
