Pape Matar Sarr rescued Tottenham Hotspur from an embarrassing defeat as he scored a brace in the 2-2 draw against EFL League One Wycombe Wanderers.
Softfootball understands that the pre-season friendly was played at Hotspur Way in a behind-closed-doors game. New manager Thomas Frank had a mixture of experience and youth in his starting line-up and they were led out by club captain Heung-min Son.

According to Tottenham official website, Sarr put the Premier League side in front through a rebound after a shot from Wilson Odobert was parried into his direction.
The visitors fought back and equalised before half-time through a deflected Junior Quitirna’s shot from 20 yards. That encouraged the League One outfit as they came out with confidence in the second half and deservedly took the lead.
Interestingly, it was the same player, Quitirna that scored but this time he cuts in from the left to power home his goal.
Spurs didn’t let their heads down as Tynan Thompson sent a good low drive across from the left and Sarr connected perfectly to beat the goalkeeper and register his second goal of the day.
The game finished 2-2 as both sides could not break each other’s defence to grab the winner.

Meanwhile, Heung-Min Son may not go into the new season with Tottenham as he has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer club LAFC.
The club has also been linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder, Joao Palhinha with Yves Bissouma the most likely player to exit the club to create space for the former Fulham man.
So far, Spurs have already secured the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, as well as Kota Takai and Luka Vuskovic. Big defender, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel have also seen their initial loan moves converted to permanent deals.
Tottenham Hotspur will host Burnley in the match week one of the 2025/26 Premier League season on August 16.
