Bayern Munich legend, Thomas Muller has said his goodbyes to the club after the Bavarians 2-0 loss to UEFA Champions League holders, PSG in their quarter finals clash at the ongoing 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Bayern Munich in their official website revealed they were not ready to offer Muller a new contract.
Bayern were hoping to add the Club World Cup trophy to their Bundesliga title to send forth the German who had been with the club since childhood. Muller had spent 17 years at the club at senor level and 9 years at youth level. Although he had started his football career at TSV Pähl at the age of 10.

Muller who has won 34 trophies in his career was first called up to Bayern’s senior team by then manager Jürgen Klinsmann and he made his full debut in a competitive game for the club on 15 August 2008, when he came on as a substitute for Miroslav Klose for the last ten minutes of a Bundesliga match against Hamburger SV.
He would eventually made three more appearances that season and scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League in a 12-1 aggregate thrashing of Sporting Lisbon.
The 2014 World Cup winner would go on to sign his first senior contract in February 2009 after impressive performances that stunned the club’s management and from this point, he became unstoppable at Bayern Munich winning 13 Bundesliga title, 6 German Cup, 8 German Super Cup, 2 UEFA Champions League, 2 UEFA Super Cup and 2 FIFA Club World Cup.
At international level, Muller rose through the ranks as he played for the U16s, U19s and U21s before he finally got his call up to senior team and made his debut in 2010. He would go ahead to play in 4 World Cups between 2010-2022 and 4 Euros – 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024.
He would bring honours home as he won the 2014 FIFA World Cup however could not replicate such at the Euros as his best finish was a bronze medal. Muller scored 45 goals in 131 senior caps for the German national team and in his whole career, scored 266 goals in 791 games.

Coach Vincent Kompany has provided an update on German midfielder, Jamal Musiala after he suffered a horrific injury during Bayern Munich’s 2-0 defeat against 9-man Paris St-Germain (PSG).
The incident happened just before the end of the first half and Musiala never came back to the pitch for the second half. Interestingly, it was his first start at the Club World Cup as he just recovered from injury before the tournament and Coach Vincent Kompany has been managing his minutes.
