Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike is showing that his football skills extend beyond the pitch after taking a commanding 3-0 lead over popular streamer IShowSpeed in a game of FC 27.
Ekitike was already three goals ahead by the 48th minute, leaving Speed with a huge task to fight his way back into the contest. The Liverpool striker appeared comfortable with the game, controlling the match against the streamer and showing that he is more than capable with a controller.
Speed even admitted Ekitike was putting up a strong performance during the game, telling the French striker:
You a gamer bro… You are not even bad though, you actually plays this game.
The entertaining clash comes after Ekitike had already become a popular figure among football fans since joining Liverpool, with his performances on the pitch attracting plenty of attention.
However, the 23-year-old’s season was later brought to a premature end by a serious injury. Ekitike suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final second-leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield in April. Liverpool confirmed that scans showed a rupture of the Achilles tendon, ruling him out for the remaining weeks of the club season.
The injury also ended Ekitike’s hopes of representing France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. FIFA confirmed that the striker would miss the tournament, while France coach Didier Deschamps described the injury as a major blow for the player and the national team.
Ekitike had enjoyed a strong campaign before the injury, scoring 17 goals across all competitions for Liverpool. His absence leaves France without one of their emerging attacking options for the World Cup.
