Bayern Munich are optimistic about reaching an agreement with Harry Kane over a new contract, with club legend and supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge highlighting the striker’s importance to the German champions.
Kane’s current Bayern contract runs until the end of the 2026/27 season, but discussions over an extension are already underway. The England captain has also indicated that negotiations are progressing positively, with both sides hoping to reach an agreement.
Rummenigge explained that while Bayern have traditionally preferred one-year contracts for players over 30, Kane could be an exception because of his performances and remarkable fitness record. The club are convinced by what the 33-year-old continues to offer and believe his consistency justifies a different approach.
Softfootball reports that Kane’s importance has also been underlined by Thomas Tuchel, with the England manager backing his former Bayern player to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Tuchel has pointed to Kane’s extraordinary 2025/26 campaign, during which he scored 73 goals for club and country while helping Bayern win three trophies. Kane also helped England finish third at the 2026 World Cup.
The England boss believes Kane has developed further beyond his goalscoring, praising his physical improvement, pressing and overall contribution to the team. Tuchel described the Bayern striker as the “full package” and believes his age should not be considered a barrier to his continued success.
With Kane continuing to deliver at the highest level, Bayern’s desire to keep him beyond his current deal is understandable. Negotiations are expected to continue as both sides work towards finding a solution that could keep the prolific striker in Munich for several more years.
