Marc Cucurella has jokingly refused to commit to getting a tattoo of Jose Mourinho if Real Madrid win the Champions League, after already fulfilling a promise to honour Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph.
Cucurella, who now plays for Real Madrid, was asked whether he would get a tattoo of Mourinho if the Spanish giants lift the Champions League trophy under the Portuguese coach.
“Don’t put me in that position,” Cucurella replied with a smile, making it clear he did not want to make another promise that could leave him with a permanent commitment.
The defender has already learned the importance of keeping his word after promising to tattoo Spain manager Luis de la Fuente if La Roja won the 2026 World Cup. Spain eventually defeated Argentina 1-0 in the final, with Cucurella playing a key role throughout the tournament.
He subsequently fulfilled the promise by getting a tattoo featuring De la Fuente, turning Spain’s World Cup success into a permanent memory.
Cucurella explained that although the tattoo had initially created some concern, he had no regrets because winning the World Cup was an achievement worth remembering forever.
The Real Madrid defender also revealed that Mourinho has surprised him since their time together began, describing the Portuguese as a good person who has been cheerful and close to the players.
For now, Cucurella appears happy to leave any Mourinho tattoo discussions for another day, insisting he would rather take things step by step, especially since he is determined to avoid the immense media pressure that comes with making bold Champions League winning promises.
