This was Arsenal’s first defeat of the season, a result that allowed Manchester City to overtake them at the top of the table, with both teams level on 12 points but City ahead on goal difference.

During his post‑match press conference, Arteta said:

Brighton were the better team. There are certain basics that you need to accomplish in the Premier League that we were very far from.
The amount of technical errors we did… we didn’t respect any principle of play.

The defeat triggered strong reactions from Arsenal fans, many expressing frustration and disappointment at the performance and the manner of the loss.

With the international break beginning next week, Arsenal will now shift focus to regrouping and correcting the issues highlighted in the defeat before returning to Premier League action.
