Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has officially been ruled out of Nigeria’s 2027 AFCON qualifiers, following a setback in his recovery from a right adductor strain.

Nigeria are scheduled to face Madagascar in Uyo on 25 September 2026 and Guinea‑Bissau on 29 September 2026, but Osimhen will play no part in either fixture.
The striker had initially been named in Nigeria’s AFCON qualifier squad, with hopes from both Galatasaray and the Super Eagles technical crew that he would recover in time for the Süper Lig clash against Trabzonspor and be ready for the international window.
However, his recovery stalled, and his absence from Galatasaray’s 4–0 defeat to Trabzonspor confirmed that he has not fully recovered and will not be available for national duty.

Osimhen will now continue his rehabilitation as Nigeria prepare for two crucial qualifying matches without their leading forward.
Softfootball will be monitoring updates closely regarding who could replace Osimhen on the list of invited players and will keep followers informed as new information emerges.
