Brentford opened their 2026/27 Premier League campaign in style, thrashing Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium. Goals from Keane Lewis-Potter, Vitaly Janelt, and Michael Kayode sealed a dominant victory, with Spurs punished for defensive lapses despite enjoying more possession.
The Bees struck early when Mamadou Sangaré combined with Dango Ouattara to set up Lewis-Potter for a close-range finish. The hosts took the lead in the 12th minute when Mamadou Sangaré former RC Lens midfielder who joined Brentford in one of the club’s record transfer.
Janelt doubled the lead in the 33rd minute, pouncing on a rebound after Mathias Jensen’s shot was parried.
Kayode added a third just after halftime, converting another rebound from Sangaré’s effort. Igor Thiago missed a chance to make it four when his penalty hit the post.
Tottenham had 59% possession but were outshot 24 to 9, with Brentford’s relentless pressing and clinical finishing proving decisive.
