Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has revealed that winning the Ballon d’Or has never been his ultimate ambition, insisting team success remains his biggest motivation.
The Brazilian forward came close to claiming football’s most prestigious individual prize after helping Real Madrid win both the UEFA Champions League and La Liga last season. However, Softfootball understands Vinicius remains focused on collecting more trophies with Los Blancos rather than personal accolades.
Speaking in an interview with TribalFootball, the 24-year-old admitted he would welcome the honour if it comes but stressed it has never been his primary objective. Vinicius said:
People vote for what they believe. I have my thoughts on it, as do my teammates, and people give me great support to keep going.
I’ve never dreamed about winning it, but of course when you’re that close, you really want to get it.”
The Brazilian added that his priority is to continue making history with Real Madrid, saying:
I’ll have other opportunities to win awards and titles with this club, which is the most important thing. I’ve won two European Cups and I’m here to win many more.
