Former Juventus manager Fabio Capello has challenged Thiago Motta to become more adventurous with his tactics, warning that a cautious approach will not deliver success at the Turin giants.
The veteran coach made the remarks following Juventus’ surprise Coppa Italia elimination at the hands of Empoli, arguing that the Bianconeri have become too predictable in the way they play. Softfootball understands Capello believes Motta must adapt quickly if he wants to establish himself as the right man to lead the club.
According to Capello, Juventus lack the balance needed to compete consistently and have dropped too many points because of a slow, conservative style of play.
While he acknowledged that Motta’s possession-based system worked well during his time at Bologna, he insisted the expectations and challenges at Juventus are completely different.
Capello believes the team should move the ball forward with greater urgency and be willing to take more risks in attack rather than relying on patient sideways passing.

Capello said, pointing to the club’s numerous league draws as evidence that a tactical change is necessary. He added that Motta has enough quality in his squad to implement a more dynamic style.
