Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers narrowly missed out on the UEFA Europa League Goal of the Matchday award despite scoring one of the standout goals during his side’s clash with Manchester United.
The Nigerian international produced a moment of quality at Old Trafford when he expertly controlled a long pass before calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to level the score in the closing stages. However, Bruno Fernandes struck deep into stoppage time to hand Manchester United a dramatic 2-1 victory.
Dessers’ finish was shortlisted alongside goals from Dario Osorio of Midtjylland, Besiktas winger Milot Rashica, and Eintracht Frankfurt youngster Can Uzun.

Softfootball understands Dessers will now shift his focus to helping Rangers finish the campaign strongly in both domestic and European competitions.
Following the conclusion of the fan vote, Osorio claimed the award, while Rashica and Uzun finished second and third respectively. Dessers placed fourth despite receiving praise for his composed finish under pressure.
The Rangers forward has continued to impress this season with important goals across all competitions and remains a key figure in Philippe Clement’s attack.
