Amad Diallo made Premier League history with his remarkable hat-trick in Manchester United’s 3-1 comeback victory over Southampton. The Ivorian became only the third player in the competition’s history to score three goals in the final 10 minutes of a match.
Southampton appeared to be heading for a major upset after taking the lead through an own goal from Manuel Ugarte shortly before halftime. Softfootball reports that Diallo then produced a sensational late turnaround, scoring in the 82nd minute before putting United ahead in the 90th.
The 22-year-old completed his hat-trick four minutes into stoppage time, joining former Manchester United stars Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Wayne Rooney in achieving the rare feat. Solskjaer previously accomplished it against Nottingham Forest in February 1999, while Rooney did so against Hull City in January 2010.
Diallo’s heroics secured three crucial points for United and moved them up to 12th place with 26 points, while Southampton remained bottom of the Premier League table.
