Fulham manager Marco Silva believes his side fully deserved their dramatic 2-1 victory over Chelsea after producing a composed and dominant second-half display at Stamford Bridge.
The Cottagers came from behind to claim all three points on Boxing Day, ending a long wait for victory at Chelsea’s home and extending their impressive recent form.
Softfootball understands Silva praised his players for responding positively after conceding an early goal and maintaining control for much of the contest.
Speaking after the match, Silva said:
I really believe that we deserved the three points against a tough side.
The Portuguese manager highlighted Fulham’s ability to play through Chelsea’s press and gradually gain control of the game.
The way we built from the back was difficult for them to press, I think we beat their first pressure almost always.
Silva admitted Cole Palmer caused problems early on but was pleased with how his team adjusted before producing an outstanding second-half performance.
Conceding an early goal of course is not easy. I think first 20 minutes we gave too much space to Cole Palmer. The first goal, the goal they scored, is a good example.
I think throughout the first half we improved that situation, we started to control a little better. And second half was different, the reaction was top from ourselves. We had much more composure on the counter-attack,
he added.
