Mikel Arteta has admitted there’s no clear timeline for Takehiro Tomiyasu’s return, with the Arsenal defender continuing to battle a frustrating run of injuries that has derailed much of his season.
Softfootball understands Arteta addressed the situation candidly, revealing that the Japanese international will be away for an extended period focused solely on treatment and recovery.

He told reporters:
Tomiyasu’s still not available, we don’t know when he will be back.
He’s gonna be away now for a few weeks to continue with his treatment and change his environment a bit.
He’s a top guy. He feels terrible being out. Hopefully it can unlock him.”

The setback adds to a growing list of defensive absences at Arsenal, with Arteta also confirming separately that Ben White will be sidelined for months following knee surgery.
Between Tomiyasu’s uncertain timeline and White’s lengthy layoff, Arsenal’s defensive options are being stretched thin heading into a demanding festive fixture list.
