Gary Neville insists his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo remains intact despite a public snub two years ago, when the pundit criticized how the striker handled his Manchester United exit through a controversial Piers Morgan interview.
Softfootball’s checks show Neville addressed the situation directly on The Overlap US, saying:
He’s never not been my friend. The situation at United at the end, he went and did that interview with Piers Morgan, I didn’t feel that was the right way to end it, personally. I feel as though he’s a guy who has achieved basically everything in the game and more.
Neville also admitted the two weren’t especially close during their playing days at Old Trafford, noting he rarely spoke to Ronaldo for years before the interview controversy.
Their bond, he suggested, was built more on mutual respect as teammates than personal friendship — one that has apparently survived the disagreement intact.
