Victor Osimhen’s club, Galatasaray, has celebrated the striker after his crucial goal helped Nigeria secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, softfootball reports.

The Super Eagles forward rescued a point for Nigeria in Thursday’s Group D qualifier against Benin Republic, heading home a late equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw in Abidjan.

Benin had taken the lead through Mohamed Tijani in the first half, but Osimhen rose highest late in the game to nod home Moses Simon’s cross and preserve Nigeria’s unbeaten run in the qualifiers.

The result ensured the Super Eagles finished as Group D winners with 11 points, guaranteeing their place at next year’s AFCON finals in Morocco.

Following the match, Turkish giants Galatasaray took to social media to congratulate their star striker for his match-winning contribution.

“Congratulations to Victor Osimhen, who scored the only goal for Nigeria in the 1-1 draw with Benin in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, securing their qualification from the group stage,” the club posted.

Osimhen’s latest strike further underlined his importance to both club and country. The prolific forward has continued his impressive scoring form since joining Galatasaray and once again delivered when Nigeria needed him most.

With qualification already secured, the Super Eagles will now shift their attention to Monday’s final qualifying fixture against Rwanda in Uyo. Although the game carries little significance for Nigeria, it presents another opportunity for the three-time African champions to maintain their momentum ahead of the tournament in Morocco.
