Super Eagles defender Christian Akpan has been promoted to the KRC Genk first team and has signed a new long‑term contract that will keep him at the Belgian club until 2030.

Softfootball gathered that the defender has been rewarded for his impressive development and performances within Genk’s youth structure, earning a deserved place in the senior squad as the club continues to build for the future.

Akpan officially joined KRC Genk on January 30, 2023, arriving from Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas to initially represent Jong Genk, the club’s youth and reserve side.
