Auxerre defender Gabriel Osho has expressed his delight after finally linking up with the Super Eagles, describing his maiden invitation to the Nigerian national team as a proud moment in his career.
Softfootball understands that Osho was initially called up by former head coach Finidi George in March but was forced to withdraw because of injury, delaying his long-awaited opportunity to represent the three-time African champions.
The 26-year-old has now earned another chance after being included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Speaking after arriving in camp, Osho said he is grateful that everything aligned this time, allowing him to finally join the national team.
The centre-back promised to give his all whenever called upon, stressing that hard work and commitment are the qualities he intends to bring to the squad.
Osho also acknowledged the fierce competition within the Super Eagles setup, pointing out the abundance of talented players across every position, especially in attack.
Despite the challenge of breaking into the team, the Auxerre defender described the opportunity to wear Nigeria’s colours as a tremendous honour and vowed to make the most of it.
