Victor Osimhen continued his fine goalscoring form by finding the net in Galatasaray’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Besiktas in the Istanbul derby on Monday night.
The Nigerian striker played a key role as the reigning Turkish Super Lig champions secured another important win to strengthen their grip at the top of the table.
Galatasaray opened the scoring in the 13th minute when defender Davinson Sánchez finished from close range after being expertly picked out by Gabriel Sara.

Softfootball understands that Sara was once again the architect of Galatasaray’s second goal, delivering a delightful cross that Osimhen powered home with a superb header in the 67th minute to double his side’s advantage.
The goal marked Osimhen’s fourth for Galatasaray since joining the Turkish giants and extended his impressive scoring streak to three consecutive league matches. The Super Eagles forward has quickly become a key figure in Okan Buruk’s attack with his strength, movement, and aerial ability.
Besiktas managed to pull one goal back late in the contest, but Galatasaray held firm to claim all three points in one of Turkish football’s biggest rivalries.
The victory keeps Okan Buruk’s men firmly at the summit of the Turkish Super Lig standings with 28 points from 10 matches. Galatasaray now hold a comfortable six-point advantage over second-placed Samsunspor as they continue their unbeaten start to the league campaign.
Osimhen’s rich vein of form will also be encouraging for Nigeria, with the striker maintaining his sharpness ahead of upcoming Super Eagles assignments.
