The Nigeria U‑17 Women’s team, the Flamingos, produced a ruthless display of attacking football to dismantle Guinea 6–0 at home, sealing an emphatic 11–0 aggregate victory and booking their place in the final round of the 2026 FIFA U‑17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Softfootball gathered, from the first whistle, the Flamingos dominated proceedings, thrilling home fans with a clinical performance. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring in the 9th minute before Harmony Chidi doubled the advantage in the 21st minute. Queen Joseph added another just two minutes later, putting Nigeria firmly in control.
Adegbuyi struck again in the 32nd minute, and Chidi completed her brace in the 34th to make it 5–0 by halftime. Precious Oscar wrapped up the scoring in the 70th minute to complete the 6–0 rout.
The Flamingos’ attacking flair was matched by defensive solidity, as they kept a clean sheet in both legs of the tie. Their 11‑goal aggregate triumph over Guinea underscores Nigeria’s strength in youth women’s football and sets up an eagerly anticipated final qualifying clash against Benin.
The winner of the Flamingos vs Benin tie will earn a place at the 2026 FIFA U‑17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Morocco from 17 October to 7 November. This will be the third edition of the tournament hosted in Africa and the first of five consecutive annual editions to be held in Morocco through 2029.
