Softfootball can confirm Ghana national football team have intensified preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by seeking spiritual guidance from the country’s revered Islamic leader, Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

The development comes amid positive momentum in Ghanaian football, including a $5 million sponsorship deal between the Football Association and Gold Fields Ghana Limited, as well as Port City FC securing the Division One League Zone Three title.

According to a post on GhanaBlackstars official x handle, the Black Stars Management Committee paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Imam on May 12, 2026, requesting prayers and blessings ahead of the global tournament in North America.

The delegation was led by Moses Armah and included key figures such as Samuel Aboabire and former captain Stephen Appiah.

The visit forms part of broader efforts by the Ghana Football Association to ensure both physical and spiritual readiness as the team prepares to compete against the world’s best. During the meeting, the delegation emphasized unity, faith, and national support as crucial elements for a successful campaign.
