Atalanta head coach Raffaele Palladino has made it clear that his team is fully focused on bouncing back as they prepare to face Cagliari Calcio in a crucial Serie A encounter.

After a painful exit from the Coppa Italia, the Italian tactician admitted the defeat took time to process but insisted his players are ready to respond.

We needed a couple of days to accept and truly process that defeat, especially because of how it happened and the circumstances around it,

Palladino said during the press conference as reported by atalanta via youtube channel.

It left a bitter feeling because of the performance we put in, but this team has always shown character and the ability to react after difficult moments. I reminded the players that our focus now has to be entirely on the next game. These remaining matches are extremely important for how we want to finish the season, and we must send a strong message not just to the teams around us, but most importantly to ourselves.

We’ve built something solid here. Since I arrived, the numbers show we are among the top-performing teams in the league, and that is not by coincidence. The group has worked hard, shown commitment, and grown together. But we are ambitious we don’t just want to be in a good position, we want to push further. There are still points available, still objectives to chase, and we have to believe we deserve more for everything we’ve produced this season.

Atalanta Aim to Bounce Back as Cagliari Battle for Serie A Survival has become the central narrative, especially with both sides chasing different objectives. Palladino emphasized that despite recent disappointments, his squad has shown strong consistency since his arrival.

Since I came in, based on the data, we are fifth in the table behind Inter, Milan, Napoli and Juventus. That tells you we’ve done a very good job. We’ve built something solid, even if results haven’t always gone our way.

Reflecting on their attacking struggles, Palladino admitted the team must be more clinical in front of goal.

We are creating a lot, we are producing situations, but we are not converting as much as we should. I don’t like to talk about luck or excuses we have to be more precise, more decisive, and more ruthless in the final third. The quality is there, the opportunities are there, and now it’s about turning those moments into goals. That’s the step we must take to grow as a team.

The Italian coach also addressed tactical discipline and adaptability, stressing that his team must remain patient against defensive opponents.

When teams defend deep with many players behind the ball, it becomes difficult for any side. You need patience, but also unpredictability and speed in your movements. We are working on being quicker in our decisions, finding different solutions, and even taking more shots from distance when spaces are tight. These are small details, but they can make a big difference in matches like this.

Meanwhile, Lautaro Martinez scores winner as Inter Milan beat Atalanta in Bergamo further underlines the recent struggles of the Bergamaschi against top opposition. Still, Palladino remains optimistic about what lies ahead.

We started from a difficult position and climbed up, which shows the strength and mentality of this group. But we are not satisfied. There are still 15 points to play for, and we want to collect as many as possible. We believe we can achieve something important if we stay focused and keep pushing.

Looking ahead to the clash with Cagliari, Palladino expects a difficult test in a hostile environment.

We expect a very tough game. Cagliari have good players, they are well coached, and they are fighting for survival, which always makes games more intense. The atmosphere will be very strong, but everything depends on us our mentality, our energy, and our reaction. We must bring positive energy onto the pitch, stay compact, and play with personality. If we do that, we give ourselves the best chance to get the result we want.
