Federico Valverde is one of the longest serving members of the current Real Madrid squad and manager Xabi Alonso has now claimed that it is a privilege having the Uruguayan at the club, Softfootball reports.

At the start of the season, the midfielder struggled to get into Alonso’s first eleven but injuries to regular right backs Daniel Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold opened the opportunity for the utility Valverde to lay his claim to the first team.

Valverde claims he is committed to Real Madrid and showed it through his performances and today, he is one of the first names on the roster for every match this season.

In an interview shared by football expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Alonso has no doubt that Valverde is a valuable asset to his Real Madrid team. He said:

I remember matches where he’s been outstanding: Barça, Juve… We know his position, but he’s very generous. He wants to help the team, the badge, and he perfectly embodies the club’s values. Having him is a real privilege.

With Alexander-Arnold picking up an injury during Real Madrid’s win over Athletic Bilbao, Federico Valverde is expected to play at right back this weekend as the Los Blancos host Celta Vigo at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are currently second on LaLiga table with 36 points, a point adrift league leaders Barcelona and would be desperate to pick all three points against Celta Vigo on Sunday.
