Arsenal moved 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League after a dramatic 2–0 victory over Everton at the Emirates Stadium on March 14, 2026.

The game looked destined for frustration for Arsenal until the closing minutes. In the 89th minute, substitute Viktor Gyökeres finally broke the deadlock, tapping home from close range after a cross delivered by 16-year-old sensation Max Dowman.

Moments later, Dowman produced a historic moment. Deep into stoppage time (90+6’), with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford upfield for a corner, the teenager broke forward from his own half, dribbled past a defender and calmly slotted the ball into an empty net.

Softfootball reported that The goal made Dowman the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history at 16 years and 73 days, surpassing the long-standing record previously held by former Everton striker James Vaughan (16 years, 270 days).

The dramatic victory sparked huge reactions from fans on X.

Lanre expressed gratitude for the result:

“Father we thank you for the result… We keep our trust in you for success in the remaining 7 games to come.🙏🏾”

A fan account named Odegaardrusso celebrated the young star’s achievement:

“Max Dowman a talent for the title race. Iconic. Youngest goal scorer in the Prem for Arsenal Football Club. 16 FUCKING years old.”

Meanwhile Oluwasegun praised the team’s resilience:

“It was a really turf game for Arsenal but Thank God for how it ended… What a night for Arsenal.”

The win continues Arsenal’s impressive run of form during the title race. Just days earlier, the Gunners secured a 1–0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on March 4 thanks to a deflected strike from Bukayo Saka.

They also defeated Chelsea 2–1 on March 1, with Jurrien Timber scoring the decisive header from a corner.

With the victory over Everton, Arsenal now sit firmly at the top of the Premier League table with 67 points from 30 games, ahead of Manchester City on 57 points and Manchester United on 51 points.

The result strengthens Arsenal’s push for what could be their first league title in 22 years, with just seven matches remaining in the season.
