Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller has officially played his final match for the Bavarian giants, coming on in the 80th minute during their FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
As Softfootball earlier reported, PSG secured a 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich despite going down to nine men. While the result was disappointing for Bayern fans, the night marked the end of a glorious chapter, as it signalled the curtain call on Müller’s 25-year career with the club.

Following the defeat, Müller revealed that he remains undecided about the next step in his career. While retirement is on the table, the German icon also hinted at exploring new opportunities—depending on the project and lifestyle offered by potential suitors.
Softfootball confirmed that Thomas Müller made this revelation in a recent interview with DAZN (via @iMiaSanMia)
I have to be presented with a project and vision. It’s not just about signing somewhere for a few months. It’s about the project. It has to be a mix between discovering something new and a sporting project. That’s why countries that are a bit exotic have an advantage. But these are only theoretical thoughts. Maybe I’ll do the exact opposite [retire]; that’s also possible. Everything’s possible. I’m not stressed. I have a contract at Bayern until the end of July. I’m relaxed.
Müller’s comments suggest he is weighing multiple options, including a potential move to leagues such as MLS or the Saudi Pro League, where both lifestyle and football ambitions may align.
It remains to be seen if Thomas Müller will consider retirement and finish his career as a one-club man or if the German World Cup winner will fancy the beaches of the MLS or the riches of the Saudi Pro League. The decision is eventually left to him.
Earlier reports from Softfootball indicated that how the Bayern Legend said his goodbyes to the club after the Bavarians 2-0 loss to PSG. Bayern were aiming to cap off their season by adding the FIFA Club World Cup title to their Bundesliga crown, in honor of the departing German star.
The 34-year-old, who spent his entire senior career at Bayern Munich, has been synonymous with success, winning numerous Bundesliga titles, UEFA Champions League crowns, and domestic trophies, while becoming a fan favourite for his intelligence, work ethic, and trademark unorthodox style of play.
As they turn the page to a new chapter, Bayern’s foundation remains strong, built on tradition, talent, and the spirit of those who have grown with the badge from boyhood to legend.
