News broke earlier in the day that Liverpool are open to signing Alexander Isak despite just acquiring the services of Hugo Ekitike from Bundesliga side, Frankfurt, Softfootball understands.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, the Reds are ready to re-enter the bid for Isak if Luis Diaz leaves for Bayern Munich this summer.
Arne Slot really appreciates the Sweden international and enquired about the player 10 days ago but was rebuffed by the Magpies.

In his update, Fabrizio explained:
“🚨💣 Understand Alexander Isak remains a target for Liverpool even after signing Ekitike… but depends on Newcastle.
“If Newcastle open doors to an exit and #LFC sell Diaz, they can bid after direct contact made 10 days ago.
“Isak, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 in concrete talks with Al Hilal so far.”
They switched their focus to Ekitike and signed the big forward for €95 million from Frankfurt. The Frenchman represented the Reds fourth signing following the arrivals of Florian Wirtz (£116M), Milos Kerkez (£40M) and Jeremie Frimpong (£30M).
Isak is a player that is very appreciated by Liverpool and many wonder what is so special about him that Liverpool are ready to pay £150 million for his services.
The former Real Sociedad player has been exceptional since he arrived England in August 2022. He has scored 27 goals in 46 games for Newcastle. In the 2023/24 season, he netted 25 goals in 40 games.

Isak’s impressive performances have seen him break records and earn individual accolades, including being nominated for Premier League Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards.
Interestingly, only Harry Kane and Erling Haaland have scored more non-penalty goals across Europe’s big five leagues than Isak since the start of last season. His opening goal against Ipswich Town was also the fastest away goal for Newcastle in the Premier League and in the same match he scored his first hat-trick for the Magpies.
Isak’s style of play is unique and he is a dynamic modern striker known for his pace, technical skills, and ability to play in various attacking roles across the front three.
He can play as a lone striker, using his strength to hold up the ball, or as a more dynamic attacker, using his pace to run in behind the defense. His ability to finish with both feet, his link-up play, and intelligent movement make him a constant threat.
Versatility: Isak can adapt to different attacking systems and formations. He can play as a traditional number nine, holding up the ball and bringing others into play, or as a more mobile attacker who runs in behind the defense.
Pace and Dribbling: The Magpies forward possesses significant pace and is a strong dribbler, allowing him to take on defenders and create opportunities for himself and his teammates.
Off-the-Ball Movement: His intelligent movement off the ball, both in terms of dropping deep to link play and making runs in behind, makes him difficult to mark and creates space for others.
Physicality: While not just a target man, Isak is strong and can hold off defenders, especially when playing as a lone striker.
Finishing: Isak is composed in front of goal and can finish effectively with both feet.
Isak missed Newcastle United pre-season friendly against Celtic after the game, manager Eddie Howe said the striker’s head has been turned by transfer speculations and was allowed to travel back home.
